Mont à l’Abbé School Head Teacher

It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you to Mont à l’Abbé School, a Special School in St Helier, Jersey. We are committed to providing the best education. Our school community is passionate and designs innovative learning opportunities to promote holistic development.

Mont à l’Abbé School is an inclusive, respectful community. We are committed to empowering children and young people by adding to their lives in a positive way. We motivate our learners by ensuring that all opportunities at school offer a challenge that meets their needs in order to achieve. We believe that by being motivated to achieve, all the young people in our school learn.
We embrace a ‘learning culture’ through reflective practice empowering our educators and families to collaborate as equal partners. Our positive relationships are the foundation of our strength as a learning community, and we promote commitment, accountability, and kindness with everyone. We are a values-led school that works in partnership with a number of organisations and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure our pupils thrive as visible valued members of society.

There is a range of expertise throughout this school, from our highly skilled teachers and teaching assistants to a range of teams and leaders. Together, we want every child’s needs met. Our teachers lead their class team through shared goals which are informed by the child’s Record of Need, parents, families, and the Multi-Disciplinary Team. We place this vision at the heart of an integrated provision that values the power of partnerships and collaboration.

The importance of teaching and learning at Mont a l’Abbe School is the underlying principle that all children can learn and need to be given the opportunities to do so. These opportunities are provided by creative and passionate staff who understand how to develop and maintain opportunities to ensure that all learners are motivated to achieve and learn.

Our aim at Mont a l’Abbe School is to ensure that we provide a broad and balanced curriculum which equips learners with skills for life and to leave school being as independent as they can possibly be.

We share a range of information about our school through this website. Contact us if you are interested in learning more about the school provision, connecting with our community, or working together.

Together we can shape the inclusive society we all seek.
